Read and watch experiences and stories from Napa CART Volunteers. Also, from people who received help for their animals from Napa CART in an emergency. These include evacuating, sheltering, and Veterinary care.
“I’ve seen Napa CART’s incredible work during some of the worst fires and storms. I’ve also benefited from their extensive and immersive training modules as a volunteer.
Napa CART’s training proved invaluable when my horse, Guss, faced a life-threatening emergency. The day after attending hands-on equine training, Guss suffered a colic episode. The quick response of our barn team and Napa CART president Dr. Claudia Sonder stabilized him. I stayed with Guss, applying the skills I learned to continue monitoring his vital signs. Seeing they were trending in the wrong direction, I called Dr. Sonder. Given the information I’d gathered, Dr. Sonder realized Guss needed hospitalization ASAP. At the U.C. Davis Equine Emergency Clinic, it was found that Guss was also suffering from peritonitis.
The quick action taken by all involved – along with my newly acquired skills – likely saved Guss’s life. I’m immensely grateful to Napa CART.
They are a truly wonderful organization to be a part of. They are passionate and caring people. And their approach to animal emergency care and recovery is professional and cutting-edge.
Thank you, Napa CART!”
